Staff at Bethany Airdrie have developed a variety of leisure and recreation programs to enhance quality of life for residents. Here is a sample of some of the regular programs offered at Bethany Airdrie.
Current Events
Staff gather with residents to read the newspaper and discuss current events.
Community Outings
A picnic or trips to the theatre, shopping mall or Calgary Stampede keep residents connected to the community.
Music Therapy
Is one of the most popular resident programs. Music therapy enhances quality of life by stimulating residents and helping with their memory recall. It also helps calm and provide mood elevation to many.
Fitness
Various types of fitness from bowling to outdoor walks help residents maintain their flexibility and strength.
Aromatherapy
Offered in private and small group sessions; aromatherapy works on sensory awareness and helps to calm and relax residents.
Friendships Tea
Every Friday Bethany Airdire opens its doors for a friendship tea. Residents are treated to entertainment and local church groups’ bring in their best baking. Resident birthdays are also celebrated at this time.
Airdrie Family Services
Every Tuesday, the auditorium at Bethany Airdire is turned into a day care. Moms, babies and toddlers visit the care centre for a fun filled playgroup with games, music, stories and crafts.
Readers Circle
Volunteers read short stories and novels to residents. The stories may help the cognitive ability of someone with dementia or entertain an avid reader whose failing eyesight no longer allows them to read.
