Symposium on Quality

Bethany Care Society hosted the 2005 and 2006 Symposiums on Quality in Long Term Care and Seniors’ Housing, in conjunction with the annual Dreambuilders Education Conference, to promote discussion and thought among decision makers with an interest in issues of quality in long term care.

image Recommendations

The passion, commitment, knowledge and ability to provide quality services is readily available in Alberta; the system itself needs to be challenged to remove existing barriers to that quality. Specific recommendations to accomplish this have been developed by Bethany Care Society in response to the work at the two Dreambuilders Symposiums. Click here to view the full PDF.

The second Symposium continued the dialog that was initiated at the first Symposium in October of 2005. The Alberta Quality Matrix for Health was used to assist participants in keeping a system perspective when looking at quality and service delivery for people with dementia. The first intensive full-day Symposium examined quality from holistic, implementation, quality improvement and accessibility perspectives. Round-table discussions engaged all Symposium participants in considering quality issues from a wide variety of stakeholder perspectives, with a goal of identifying the steps required to assure quality in long term care and seniors’ housing.
