First phase of Bethany Calgary renovations completed

Posted on Monday, December 14, 2009

Life is brighter on Parkview, Central Point and the rest of Level 3 at Bethany Calgary. Over the past nine months, dining rooms, lounges, hallways and 130 resident rooms were renovated in the first phase of the South Building refurbishment. We are taking a break until the springtime when we will start the second phase with Level 4.

The total cost to refurbish all three levels is $3.3 million, and we will continue with each phase as we have the necessary funds.

The renovations have lifted spirits for everyone who lives, works and visits on Level 3, and there are many people to thank. First, the Clark Builders team who understood they were working in people’s homes and treated residents with respect and care. I also thank the staff of Bethany Care Foundation and Corporate Services who were instrumental in planning the work and securing the donations and capital funds needed for the first phase.

I especially thank everyone at Bethany Calgary for their support and positive attitude. We could not have achieved this result without the leadership of the management team and the willingness of staff and volunteers to pitch in and make sure residents continued to receive safe, quality care throughout all the moves and construction. A huge thanks to our Maintenance staff who were involved at every stage of the renovation and put forward an incredible commitment to make it a success. Finally, I would like to thank residents and family members for your  understanding and support. We are proud of the new atmosphere we have been able to create with the help of all members of the Bethany Calgary community.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all members of Bethany Care Society a wonderful Christmas, and I look forward to working with you in the New Year to continue Bethany’s mission of Creating Caring Communities.
