(Calgary, March 8, 2010) Bethany Care Society is pleased to announce it has received a full three year accreditation award from Accreditation Canada, the highest standing awarded by the organization.
“We are thrilled with the results,” says Greer Black, President and CEO. “We have worked extremely hard over the past three years implementing quality programs and improving service delivery.”
Accreditation is an external peer review process to assess and improve services based on national standards of excellence. All hospitals and long term care centres in Alberta must be accredited.
From February 7 to 12, 2010, surveyors from Accreditation Canada visited Bethany care centres, reviewed documents, observed care practices, and interviewed staff, residents, family members, volunteers and community partners. The results of the accreditation survey were just released to Bethany Care Society.
Accreditation Canada identified the following areas as organizational strengths:
· Resident focused care and services
· Quality improvement programs
· Comprehensive interdisciplinary care teams
· Education and leadership programs
· Spiritual presence model
· Organizational values and ethics
· Strong human resources recruitment and retention programs
“These results are the culmination of three years of hard work and preparation by clinical and administrative staff,” states the Accreditation Canada report. “Residents are the key and they receive the best care possible including holistic care. The staff take great pride in providing quality care.”
Organizations are re-evaluated by Accreditation Canada every three years. Bethany Care Society will retain its full accreditation status until the next survey in 2013.
