Hopewell Residential Communities Spruces Up Bethany Cochrane

Posted on Thursday, June 23, 2011

(Cochrane, June 23, 2011) Bethany Cochrane is pleased to announce that on Friday, June 24, 2011 staff from Hopewell Residential Communities will be volunteering at Bethany Cochrane for the day. The focus for the 30-plus volunteers is the beautification of the Resident and Family Garden Project on the expansive grounds of Bethany Cochrane. This initiative is part of the ‘Hopewell Gives Back Program’.

“Bethany Care Society is a vital part of the social well-being of the community-at-large, and it’s an honour to be able to support their efforts through this initiative. I have been personally involved in the Bethany Care Society for more than seven years and Hopewell’s Charitable Committee was enthusiastically on board for this project when we were approached by Bethany Cochrane earlier this year,” says Lesley Conway, President, Hopewell Residential Communities.

Some of the projects being completed include the gardens around the All Saints Chapel, including weeding and planting, adding additional rocks, and painting the chapel. The volunteers will also create a small vegetable garden, repair two gazebos, build additional garden planters, and plant shrubs. Some Bethany volunteers and staff will also be participating with this project.

“Special thanks goes out to Hopewell for their great Hopewell Gives Back Program and we are grateful that they have selected Bethany Cochrane this year as their charity of choice,” says Doreen Wilson, Administrator, Bethany Cochrane. “With the help and commitment demonstrated by all the volunteers today, residents and their families will enjoy beautiful gardens and grounds all summer long.”

Bethany Cochrane has been a vital member of the Cochrane community since 1999, offering continuing care, supportive living and dementia care. Bethany Care Society is one of Western Canada’s largest voluntary, not-for-profit providers of health, housing and community services for seniors and persons with disabilities. A faith-based organization founded in 1945, Bethany provides service to more than 5,500 Albertans in over 100 communities.
