(Sylvan Lake, AB Sept 21, 2011) On Thursday, September 22, 2011, Bethany Sylvan Lake will celebrate the completion of the Supportive Living dining room expansion by hosting a donor recognition event. Hon. Mary Anne Jablonski, Minister, Seniors and Community Supports, Hon. Luke Ouellette, MLA Innisfail-Sylvan Lake and Minister of Transportation, as well as Her Worship Susan Samson, Mayor, Town of Sylvan Lake will bring greetings during the program.
The renovated room improves the quality of life for residents by creating more open space in the dining room and by increasing access to tables for staff serving meals and also for residents who require additional space for wheelchairs and walkers.
“We greatly appreciate the donors, community members and the Alberta government who have generously supported the dining room renovation project, which will enhance the environment for residents, families and visitors,” said Greer Black, President and CEO, Bethany Care Society.
Bethany Care Society received $61,000 in grants from the Community Facility Enhancement Program (Alberta Lottery Funding) in support of the dining room expansion.
The cost to renovate and expand the dining room was approximately $180,000, with approximately $97,000 being raised through government, private and business donors. Bethany Care Foundation continues to approach local service clubs, businesses, community organizations and individuals with the opportunity to donate to this very worthy cause.
“I would like to thank the Bethany Care Society and the donors for their combined efforts in addressing the needs of residents and increasing their quality of life,” said the Honourable Mary Ann Jablonski, Minister of Seniors and Community Supports. “Projects such as this reflect a commitment to seniors and each other, while strengthening our communities.”
