Bethany Cochrane rolls in new wheelchair accessible bus for residents

Posted on Wednesday, June 20, 2012

On Monday, June 18, 2012, Bethany Cochrane and Bethany Care Foundation will celebrate the purchase of a new wheelchair accessible bus for the care centre by hosting a donor recognition event. MLA Ron Casey will visit the care centre for the first time and will bring greetings on behalf of the province.

Fundraising for the Bethany Cochrane bus began over two years ago, with the full cost of $87,000 raised through donations from individuals, service clubs, organizations and businesses in the community who stepped forward to promote quality of life for residents.

“We are really happy that the fundraising campaign is complete and that we have a new bus for residents to use and enjoy,” says Doreen Wilson, Administrator of Bethany Cochrane. “Wheelchair accessible transportation provides opportunities for residents to become more engaged in community life through outings to shops, restaurants, businesses, events and other points of interest in Cochrane and the surrounding area.”

“We really appreciate how the community came together and generously supported this project, which will immensely improve quality of life for residents at Bethany Cochrane,” says Carlene Chrumka, Executive Director, Bethany Care Foundation.
